CHIPPING POLICY

A curbside chipping service is available to Township residents who trim trees and shrubbery for maintaining their property.  This service is currently being provided free of cost to the resident on the first Monday of every month.  If Monday is a holiday, chipping will be conducted the following work day.  Due to leaf collection, this service is not available in the months of November and December.  Items for chipping should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m.  Crew members and the chipper will not return once it has serviced a street.  Trimmings are to be placed in the front yard, curbside, with cut ends toward the road pointed in the direction of traffic.  They are to remain along the edge of the property, not in the street!  Trimmings are limited to items 1 to 3 inches in diameter.  Small bushes must have the root ball removed.

Chipping Pile

Crews will not pick up items that have been placed in bags, tied or under a tarp; nor contain grass, sod, leaves, trimmings less than 1 inch in diameter, root balls, plants, flowers and other garden residue, stones, metal, nor Christmas trees with ornaments, tinsel or other attachments.  Generally, any items that may injure crew members or damage equipment are to be removed for safety.

We can not accept any items that have been cut or removed by a commercial establishment, nor can we accept any part of a tree that has been or is being removed with the intention of extracting the entire tree.  The chipping service is intended to assist residents with their routine maintenance of trimmings, not to compete with private enterprises.

Due to high traffic volumes, this service can not be conducted on Gravel Hill Road, Route 422 or South Forge Road from Park Drive south to the Township line.

Please be aware:  If the crew is not able to complete their route in the allotted day, due to time or weather, they will reconvene at their stopping point the next available day.  All service is conducted weather permitting.
